Here's a simple way to determine if it's the last day of the month.

You can also assign the day of week as a number directly from the output of the date command -- you don't need to translate the name into a number.

SYNOPSIS

       array getdate ([int  $timestamp = time()])

DESCRIPTION

	Returns an associative array containing the date information of the $timestamp, or the current local time if no $timestamp is given.

PARAMETERS

	      o $timestamp
		-  The	optional  $timestamp parameter is an integer Unix timestamp that defaults to the current local time if a $timestamp is not
