i want to know about the unix file system. about the boot block,super block,and how to access them ,all the geometry details of the file systemetc etc...

Hi all.
Im migrating from a Unix 32 bit to a linux suse 10 64 bit and would like to know whats the best way to migrate the filesystems? cpio? tar? ftp? Could I make a backup in tape in the unix 32 and restore it in the linux 64?

Hi all
Is there a way to copy a unix filesystem (folders, subfolder and files) to windows (AD) and at the same time maintaine the unix permission (user/group) when copied to windows (AD) filesystem?
I want the same permission in windows as I had in unix in one copy job.

install-solaris
install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:
For SPARC machines:
128 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
128 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
384 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
For x86 machines:
256 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
256 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
512 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea-
tures available.
