hey guys, how to add soalris box as a microsoft DNS Client ?
and how to register in the microsoft DNS ??
i managed to query from the DNS server after adding /etc/resolve.conf and editing /etc/nsswitch.conf

forgive my ignorance, but when IVe set up DNS Ive put in the various server details in the /etc/resolv.conf and away I go. Suddenly Ive been reading about DNS, and I need to created a /etc/named.conf file.

I personally prefer Windows DNS server for management, it supports GUI and command line. But I am not sure about security... (2 Replies)

There are some records that contains the "IN" statement and some do not.
But anyway this works.
So my question is what this "IN" is intended for?

We just built a new Solaris 10 zone. And would like to add it to our DNS server. Its also Solaris 10. Please let me know how can I get the IP resolved using this DNS server. Thread object whose sequence number is to be obtained.
DESCRIPTION
This routine obtains and returns the DECthreads thread sequence number for the thread identified by the thread object specified in the
thread argument.
The thread sequence number provides a unique identifier for each existing thread. A thread's thread sequence number is never reused while
the thread exists, but can be reused after the thread terminates. The debugger interfaces use this sequence number to identify each thread
in commands and in display output.
The result of calling this routine is undefined if the thread argument does not specify a valid thread object.
RETURN VALUES
No errors are returned. This routine returns the DECthreads thread sequence number for the thread identified by the thread object speci-
fied in the thread argument. The result of calling this routine is undefined if the thread argument does not specify a valid thread.
