Using awk, print all the lines where field 8 is equal to x
Using awk, print all the lines where field 8 is equal to x
I really did try, but this awk thing is really hard to figure out.
file1.txt
***OUTPUT***
result1.txt
I tried all the following with different combinations. They either printed everything or nothing. None of the following is achieving the results. What am I missing here?
Also would be great to do field 6.

Hi.
I have a tab separated file that has a couple nearly identical lines. When doing:
sort file | uniq > file.new
It passes through the nearly identical lines because, well, they still are unique.

Hi all,
I am new to using awk and am quickly discovering what a powerful pattern-recognition tool it is. However, I have what seems like a fairly basic task that I just can't figure out how to perform in one line. I want awk to find and print all the lines in which one of multiple patterns (e.g.... In the awk below I am trying to print the entire line, along with the header row, if $2 is SNV or MNV or INDEL. If that condition is met or is true, and $3 is less than or equal to 0.05, then in $7 the sub pattern :GMAF= is found and the value after the = sign is checked. If that value is less than... xzcmp
XZDIFF(1) XZ Utils XZDIFF(1)NAME
xzcmp, xzdiff, lzcmp, lzdiff - compare compressed files
SYNOPSIS
xzcmp [cmp_options] file1 [file2]
xzdiff [diff_options] file1 [file2]
lzcmp [cmp_options] file1 [file2]
lzdiff [diff_options] file1 [file2]
DESCRIPTION
xzcmp and xzdiff invoke cmp(1) or diff(1) on files compressed with xz(1), lzma(1), gzip(1), bzip2(1), or lzop(1). All options specified
are passed directly to cmp(1) or diff(1). If only one file is specified, then the files compared are file1 (which must have a suffix of a
supported compression format) and file1 from which the compression format suffix has been stripped. If two files are specified, then they
are uncompressed if necessary and fed to cmp(1) or diff(1). The exit status from cmp(1) or diff(1) is preserved.
The names lzcmp and lzdiff are provided for backward compatibility with LZMA Utils.
SEE ALSO cmp(1), diff(1), xz(1), gzip(1), bzip2(1), lzop(1), zdiff(1)BUGS
Messages from the cmp(1) or diff(1) programs refer to temporary filenames instead of those specified.
