It looks to me as if spaces are the same (20) and that é are the only strange letters.
But shouldn't any wierd character be handled by ${line//[^a-z]/} since they would be NOT a-z, [^a-z] and should therefor be replaced with nothing?

Say you have this numeric variable that can be set by the user but you never want it to leave a certain range when it gets printed. How could you use parameter expansion such that it will never expand outside of that boundary? Thanks

I'm using an Ubuntu machine and expansion is not working properly. What would cause this? Do I need to check for any particular bash packages?

SYNOPSIS
bool ctype_upper (string $text)
DESCRIPTION
Checks if all of the characters in the provided string, $text, are uppercase characters.
PARAMETERS
o $text
- The tested string.
RETURN VALUES
Returns TRUE if every character in $text is an uppercase letter in the current locale.
EXAMPLES

A ctype_upper(3) example (using the default locale)
