what is the output of "dmesg" and are there entries in /var/adm/messages after connecting a drive to the port?

Hi all,
I am trying to run a listener through a certain port. The listener starts with no errors but when I do a netstat -n |grep "portNo". It does not show there. I have added the port details into the /etc/services file.

Recently we have to use AIX 6.1 IBM unix server . Here the 177 port is up and also inetd service is up . But we cannot access to the server using X-manager software .

I need to connect a laptop 2.5 SATA hard drive to a Desktop board (which uses 3.5' SATA hard drives). I've tried the connectors and they fit excellent in the 2.5 SATA connectors.

NAME
utmpx, wtmpx - utmpx and wtmpx database entry formats
SYNOPSIS
#include <utmpx.h>
/var/adm/utmpx
/var/adm/wtmpx
DESCRIPTION
The utmpx and wtmpx files are extended database files that have superseded the obsolete utmp and wtmp database files.
The utmpx database contains user access and accounting information for commands such as who(1), write(1), and login(1). The wtmpx database
contains the history of user access and accounting information for the utmpx database.
USAGE
Applications should not access these databases directly, but should use the functions described on the getutxent(3C) manual page to inter-
act with the utmpx and wtmpx databases to ensure that they are maintained consistently.
