Go into var/tmp and start getting rid of temp files. See what is going on in /var/log.
You have to manage some of the directories in /var the same way you do with user directories, by rolling off old files.

inodes are created when you format the disk/partition. So, for example, if /var/tmp is loaded with temp files, consider adding a new disk with lots of free files (inodes), then mount it on /var/tmp.

You can also try growfs to increase the size of the current mounted filesystem. See growfs, and the -i option of newfs.

NAME

       install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris  invokes  the  Solaris  Install  program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB

           Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       128 MB

           Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       384 MB

           Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       For x86 machines:

       256 MB

           Minimum physical memory for all installation types
