Hi all,
If I give ls , it lists files in 1 second.
It I give ls -l , it takes 8 seconds
There are only 55 files in the directory.
Any explanation?

Hi all,
Solaris is working very slow as login to solaris takes time say after 10 to 15 mins we get the login prompt back after logging in as oracle account/other account.
This causes most Batch run delays(DWHouse jobs) scheduled through cronjobs.

My application runs on AIX, and clients complain of 3am slowdowns. This seems to have increased in the recent past.

We are using AIX 5.3 ML9. There is 1 Gig NIC installed on two servers (Primary and Secondary) with Full Duplex Mode. install-solaris install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation, install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer. The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation: For SPARC machines: 128 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 128 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 384 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation For x86 machines: 256 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 256 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 512 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea- tures available. install-solaris exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should be invoked only from there.
