I want to write a script which would run from one host say A and connect to other remote host B and then run rest of commands in that host. I tried connecting from A host to B with SSH but after connecting to host B it just getting me inside Host B command prompt. Rest of the script is not running... (6 Replies)

In my cronjob, I would like to schedule my script.sh to run every minutes. I crontab -e and have in line below but it didn't seems to run at all.
* * * * * script.sh
When I run it manually, I can run it. Is that anything wrong with the above line?

how to run an already developed script run against a list of ip addresses solaris 8 question.
the script goes away and check traffic information, for example
check_GE-VLANStats-P3 1.1.1.1
and returns the results ok.
how do I run this against an ip list? i.e a list of 30 ip addresses (26 Replies)

If I run 'who -u' interactively or from a script invoked through bash in a tty on my Ubuntu 12LTS box I get an output like this:
testuser pts/0 Dec 9 02:32 . 2163 (host.xx.yy)
running the same through cron I get:

I'm trying to write a script to gather and send data and it works just fine at the bash command line, but when executing from CRON, it does not run properly.

I am from MQ/MB technology. My requirement is to display the queue manger and broker status on daily basis.
If I manually run the script, it works fine and displays output. But when I have scheduled the same using cronjobs it shows only the queue manger status and not the broker status.

I have written a script that waits for a trigger file.
Then checks the time of the trigger.
if the trigger finished between 8pm and midnight then runs a job.
else it waits till 1am then runs a different job.

shutdown - close down the system at a given time SYNOPSIS
/usr/ucb/shutdown [-fhknr] time [warning-message...] DESCRIPTION
shutdown provides an automated procedure to notify users when the system is to be shut down. time specifies when shutdown will bring the system down; it may be the word now (indicating an immediate shutdown), or it may specify a future time in one of two formats: +number and hour:min. The first form brings the system down in number minutes, and the second brings the system down at the time of day indicated in 24-hour notation. At intervals that get closer as the apocalypse approaches, warning messages are displayed at terminals of all logged-in users, and of users who have remote mounts on that machine. At shutdown time a message is written to the system log daemon, syslogd(1M), containing the time of shutdown, the instigator of the shut- down, and the reason. Then a terminate signal is sent to init, which brings the system down to single-user mode. OPTIONS
As an alternative to the above procedure, these options can be specified: -f Arrange, in the manner of fastboot(1B), that when the system is rebooted, the file systems will not be checked. -h Execute halt(1M). -k Simulate shutdown of the system. Do not actually shut down the system. -n Prevent the normal sync(2) before stopping. -r Execute reboot(1M). FILES
