thanks but it doesn't answer my question at all.

I have already seen it before.
It don't solve my problem because it doesn't tell how to add icons to a specific category in the dash.

I think it has connection to the /usr/share/applications directory.

I see there a lot of files with the extension .desktop.

Maybe I should create such file for my script.

Does anyone know the syntax of those files?

Gewtting Unity (or the Panel) to start

For some reason my installation of Ubuntu 11.04 is messed up and Unity doesn't start automatically. I can't find what command I need to start it nor how to make it start at boot time.
