You would need to further tell awk which strings needs to be printed. By default it prints the whole line read.
Code:
awk '/string/{print $5}' inputfile

NAME

       Locale::Maketext::Extract::Plugin::Haml - HAML format parser

VERSION

DESCRIPTION

       Extracts strings to localise from HAML files.

SHORT PLUGIN NAME

	   haml

       Extracts strings in the same way as Locale::Maketext::Extract::Plugin::Perl, but only ones within "text" components of HAML files.
