hi,
how can i diplay:
- the ammount RAM used /free
- ammount of ram used from a pid or prozess
we have the problem, that malloc is returing a NULL pointer errno = 12 ( not enough space).
but i think there is still ram free.
nmon : shows all memory used ?

I have a question about the accuracy of prstat.
I did a 'prstat -t' and it shows 99% of my memory is occupied by oracle.
NPROC USERNAME SIZE RSS MEMORY TIME CPU
194 oracle 343G 340G 99% 86:17.24 56%
However, 'top' shows I still have 7762meg of memory free.

When i was trying to store a file of size 743 MB into a directory i got a msg. that the disk is full. But when i used the df -k . command on that directory it showed only 40% in usage and the disk had more than enough memory for the file. When i checked the syslog i found that at that instant of... I am using AIX 5 and on running topas command. I can see the computational memory is 93.3% with Swap Paging memory at 2.2%. Could you please advise if there is any impact by the growth of computational memory?

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION
The <sys/mman.h> header supports the following options:
o the Memory Mapped Files option
o the Shared Memory Objects option
o the Process Memory Locking option
o the Memory Protection option
o the Synchronized Input and Output option
For Memory Mapped Files and Shared Memory Objects options, the following protection options are defined:
PROT_READ Page can be read.
PROT_WRITE Page can be written.
PROT_EXEC Page can be executed.
PROT_NONE Page cannot be accessed.
The following flag options are defined:
MAP_SHARED Share changes.
MAP_PRIVATE Changes are private.
MAP_FIXED Interpret addr exactly.
The flags immediately following are defined for msync(). See msync(3C).
MS_ASYNC Perform asynchronous writes.
MS_SYNC Perform synchronous writes.
MS_INVALIDATE Invalidate mappings.
The symbolic constants immediately following are defined for the mlockall() function. See mlockall(3C).
MCL_CURRENT Lock currently mapped pages.
MCL_FUTURE Lock pages that become mapped.
The symbolic constant MAP_FAILED is defined to indicate a failure from the mmap() function. See mmap(2).
The mode_t, off_t, and size_t types are be defined as described in <sys/types.h>. See types(3HEAD).
