thank you achenle, sounds exactly right... after playing with wxApp's OnExit, OnFatalException and others (app is built on wxWidgets)... no success getting an event so the app can clean up...
does anyone have a simple example of a wxWidget or X application that can detect the launching x terminal's death? If so, then I can fit that into the wxWidget app...
Before I started playing with the wxApp methods I was getting a message that may provide more clues. It's at the bottom.

I am using "trap" command in my script to prevent the user from running Ctrl-C during the its execution. My script creates number of children processes which in turn create some children processes as well during the execution.

I have following traps(s) in my code
Line 913 triggers one of the traps with parenthesizes around
(case-insensitive).
Checked by removing them.
Since it is a text I do not mind removing the offending () .
But why it triggers both traps ?

WPrefs - Window Maker configuration tool
SYNOPSIS
WPrefs [-options]
DESCRIPTION
WPrefs.app is the preferences "editor" for the WindowMaker window manager. It can be used to set most of the preference options of Window-
Maker and define it's applications menu. It also can change some settings that do not belong to WindowMaker.
Although WPrefs.app is designed to be easy to use, you should read the user guide to be fully aware of all available options and other fea-
tures of WindowMaker that are not related to configuration.
Only options that have different values than what is found in the system-wide configuration file is saved.
OPTIONS
-display host:display.screen
specify display to use.
--version
display version number and exit
--help display help message and exit
FILES
~/GNUstep/Defaults/WindowMaker
general Window Maker defaults.
/etc/GNUstep/Defaults/WindowMaker
system wide Window Maker defaults.
