If you want time info in a file :

Code:
echo start time: $(date +'%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S') >> time_info
(time <command>) 1>/dev/null 2>> time_info
echo end time: $(date +'%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S') >> time_info


You could use a wrapper script and schedule this in cron.
