Software installation on HP-UX system
Hello,

I work on an oil rig offshore with limited resources at my disposal at the moment. We have been trying to repair one of our IMS stations, but no one out here is familiar with UNIX and our ABB service rep is spotty at best. The machine is an HP 9000 running HP-UX 10.20.

We are trying to install the necessary software on our IMS. We had a SCSI hard drive go out and replaced the drive with a brand new one. At boot, I insert a known good disc and boot from that disc. The installation disc goes through a series of setup questions and completes the software installation on the new drive.

When I try to boot from the hard drive, it gives me an ENTRY_INIT, STATUS = -3 error. Failed to initialize drive.

I know virtually nothing about UNIX, but the new drive is a FW-SCSI with an ID of 4. The CD-ROM drive is an SE-SCSI with an ID of 3. Are these different types of SCSIs. Can they interact in the same system?

Forgive me if I'm asking seriously basic questions, I'm used to Windows and feel the same way when people ask me really basic questions. It seems as if I have a hardware issue, and I'm just trying to isolate the problem.

NAME

       RIG - Random Identity Generator

USAGE

       rig [ -f | -m ] [ -d datadir ] [ -c num ]

DESCRIPTION

       Rig is a utility that will piece together a random first name, last name, street number and address, along with a geographically consistant
       (ie, they all match the same area) city, state, ZIP code, and area code.

       It is suitable for such applications as feeding the NY times registration page to fend off junk (snail) mail and telemarketers, or for reg-
       istering on BBS's to which you don't wish to reveal your real information.

OPTIONS

       -f, -m Respectively, use female and male names. If neither or both options are selected, RIG uses both female and male names.

       -d datadir
	      Use data files found in datadir. Without this option, the default directory of /usr/share/rig is assumed.

       -c num Output num identities. Default is 1.
