You can use iptables, not sure if it's included by default but you can certainly install it yourself.
Yes, but IMO if you are really concerned about security then it would be more important not to use an ancient OS.

hello people i just installed redhat, everything seemes to be fine, but when i start it, it boots up normally and starts firstboot or whatever, then it opens something, i can move the mouse for a while(thats all i see.. first the X then an arrow..) but then the whole computer freezes.. i think the... rhn_register [options]
DESCRIPTION
rhn_register is a client program that registers your system with "Spacewalk Server", "Red Hat Satellite" or "Red Hat Network Classic".
After registering, your system can receive software updates, install new software, and remotely manage your system. It can run both in

-v, --verbose
Increase the debugging output.
--proxy=PROXY
Specify an http proxy to use.
--proxyUser=PROXYUSER
Specify a username to use for an authenticated proxy. This option must be used in conjunction with proxyPassword.
