help with shell script: cp command not working, but mv command works...

scripts are seem like correct.
* you can try safely umount and then mount and check any errors.
* if your system use default fs structure , maybe /usr/ must be on separate mount on a device..and if you can, you can run fsck this device despite any fs errors.

When i use paste command in command prompt its giving expected output but not in the script. Below is the example.
$cat file
1
2
3
$cat file1
4
5
6
$paste -d ':' file file1
1:4
2:5
3:6
but when i used the same command in script its giving the output as below :

I am a bit confused ,why would a sed command work fine outside of ksh script but not inside.
e.g
I want to replace all the characters which end with a value and have space at end of it.
so my command for it is :
sed -i "s/$SEPARATOR /$SEPARATOR/g" file_name

I wish to replace "\\n" with a single white space.
The below does the job on command-line:
$ echo '/fin/app/scripts\\n/fin/app/01/sql' | sed -e 's#\\\\n# #g';

mount, umount - mount or remove file system SYNOPSIS
mount(special, name, rwflag) char *special, *name; umount(special) char *special; DESCRIPTION
Mount announces to the system that a removable file system has been mounted on the block-structured special file special; from now on, ref- erences to file name will refer to the root file on the newly mounted file system. Special and name are pointers to null-terminated strings containing the appropriate path names. Name must exist already. Name must be a directory (unless the root of the mounted file system is not a directory). Its old contents are inaccessible while the file system is mounted. The rwflag argument determines whether the file system can be written on; if it is 0 writing is allowed, if non-zero no writing is done. Physically write-protected and magnetic tape file systems must be mounted read-only or errors will occur when access times are updated, whether or not any explicit write is attempted.
