not that I know of. I only provide assistance to the admins of this sytem anyhow
I've been told nothing was changed, and the box crashed, and went down sometime over the weekend.
I was really trying to figure out where this was hanging - just so I've got an idea of where to troubleshoot once we're able to get it into single user. I think it's hanging just before the init phase. So the kernel is initialised, and modules loaded.

Hi,
We have a SunFire V880, hooked up with 2 T3 arrays. When ever we issue a reboot command on the system, it hangs at the same place right where it says
syncing file systems done.
To bring it back we shutdown power and it comes clean.
By the way init 6 command works fine.

I have a SUN server Sun-Fire-V890 running solaris 9, with a remote system console .
Both the IP adresses of the server and the console are in a private network (address 10.67.xxx).

dear members,
i am a newbie to solaris 11.3, and deeply impressed. On my test pc (Lenovo M90), however, using the internet hangs the system from time to time;
initializing the connecting (WLAN) during installation (via the live cd)
took two attempts as well.
Maybe someone has a solution... (7 Replies)

LEARN ABOUT REDHAT
netdump
NETDUMP-CLIENT(8) System Programs NETDUMP-CLIENT(8)
NAME
netdump - send oops data and memory dumps over the network
SYNOPSIS
/etc/init.d/netdump (start|stop|status|restart|propagate)
DESCRIPTION
Loads and configures the netdump kernel modules. Once these are loaded, when the kernel crashes it will send the oops message and a dump of
physical memory to the machine that runs the netdump-server. This can then be used to debug the problem using gdb and a kernel image.
OPTIONS
start Starts the netdump client service. Loads the kernel modules with the right options.
stop Unloads the kernel modules.
status Shows the status of the netdump client
restart
Restarts the netclient modules with new configurations.
propagate
Sends the ssh public key needed to update the random key for each netdump session to the netdump server.
FILES
/etc/sysconfig/netdump
Configuration for the netdump client. You need to at least specify the address of the machine running the netdump server here.
/etc/sysconfig/netdump_id_dsa.pub
Public key for this machine. Used by the server to authenticate the client. This must be installed on the server, possibly by using
the the propagate capability of the netdump init script, which does:
cat /etc/sysconfig/netdump_id_dsa.pu | ssh netdump@$NETDUMPADDR cat '>>' /var/crash/.ssh/authorized_keys2
Where $NETDUMPADDR is the ip or name of the machine running the netdump server.
