Actually i just tried typing in what you said './ScreenSaverEngine' but then
added -background and it worked './ScreenSaverEngine -background'
why does the period have to be added (b/c just '/ScreenSaverEngine -background' does not work

Move mouse to disable screensaver?

All XKCD jokes aside, can a feature be added to a bash script to move the mouse every X seconds to prevent the screensaver from activating? As is it, I launch mplayer through a script that sets some preferences (such as -zoom). Can I add something to that script which wiggles the mouse? Relevant... (1 Reply)

ScreenSaver issue with Solaris 10

I have a Dell Vostro running Solaris 10 x86 and I am trying to get it to activate the screensaver when no one is logged it. gnome-screensaver-command [OPTION...] DESCRIPTION
gnome-screensaver-command is a tool for controlling an already running instance of gnome-screensaver. OPTIONS
--exit Causes the screensaver to exit gracefully -q, --query Query the state of the screensaver -t, --time Query the length of time the screensaver has been active -l, --lock Tells the running screensaver process to lock the screen immediately -c, --cycle If the screensaver is active then switch to another graphics demo -a, --activate Turn the screensaver on (blank the screen) -d, --deactivate If the screensaver is active then deactivate it (un-blank the screen) -p, --poke Poke the running screensaver to simulate user activity -i, --inhibit Inhibit the screensaver from activating.
