Thank you for your response. This is the output of xrandr on ubuntu:
Code:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1360 x 768, maximum 1360 x 1360
VGA-0 connected 1360x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1360x768 59.8*
   1152x864 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9
S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis).

And this is the output on FreeBSD:
Code:
# xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 240, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600
default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   800x600 60.0* 56.0
   640x480 60.0
   400x300 60.0 56.0
   320x240 60.0

In other words, there is no option to go higher than 800x600 on the FreeBSD install, even when it is exactly the same monitor.
I also tried with a different video card, but that did not change the options either.
