I've done this before but I can't remember how. Too long away from vi.
I want to do a search are replace, but I want the replace to be a join.
Example
see spot run
see spot walk
see spot run fast
see spot hop
%s/run$/<somehow perform a join with the next line>/g

I know how to get this (the lines that have duplicates) :
b
d
sort file | uniq -d
But i need opossite of this. I have searched the forum and other places as well, but have found solution for everything except this variant of the problem. (3 Replies)

Write each FILE to standard output, last line first. With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read standard input.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-b, --before
attach the separator before instead of after
-r, --regex
interpret the separator as a regular expression
-s, --separator=STRING
use STRING as the separator instead of newline
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
