I have a problem. I have machine names and their IP addresses in /etc/hosts file. My application does telnet on that machine host name. The application does not uses IP address for tenet. It will fetch the host name from /etc/hosts file.

I would like to create a simple script that will telnet a number of IP and Ports one after the other to confirm connectivity to those addresses.
I don't need to log on, just output to a file what the response is, i.e Escape Character, connectivity refused etc.

Hi, we have recently setup a new UNIX server with solaris 10 and I am having issue with with SMTP/sendmail.
telnet localhost 25 --- works
telnet hostname.domain.com 25 -- does not work.

I am trying to set up a dev environment and I have Ubuntu server (10.16.1.92) and a CentOS VM (10.16.3.235) on this. On the CentOS I have a program running on port 5433. Well this is probably a silly one that I should know...but I don't !
I'm telnetting to various ports from a shell script and the telnet is echoing back that it's 'trying xxx.xx.xx.xx...' but not the port number it's trying!

bssh/bvnc/bshell - Browse for SSH/VNC servers on the local network
SYNOPSIS
bssh
bvnc
bshell
DESCRIPTION
bssh/bvnc/bshell browses for SSH/VNC servers on the local network, shows them in a GUI for the user to select one and finally calls
ssh/vncviewer after a selection was made.
If the binary is called as bssh only ssh servers will be shown. If the binary is called as bvnc only VNC servers will be shown. If the
binary is called as bshell both VNC and SSH servers are shown.
OPTIONS
-s | --ssh
Browse for SSH servers (and only SSH servers) regardless under which name the binary is called.
-v | --vnc
Browse for VNC servers (and only VNC servers) regardless under which name the binary is called.
-S | --shell
Browse for both VNC and SSH servers regardless under which name the binary is called.
-d | --domain= DOMAIN
Browse in the specified domain. If omitted bssh/bvnc/bshell will browse in the default browsing domain (usually .local)
-h | --help
Show help.
