But, like I said, I also have similar hand-burned disks that say 10/01 on them...

Well, /lib is an entry in /, but this is probably /usr/lib, so "a typo" if /usr is a different disk! As I recall, old Solaris had only one linked to the other, but newer Solaris has these as 2 lib dirs.
Gotcha. Yes, my lib directory is under /usr.

I find it odd that I can create a new directory, but I cannot rename any...Am I just doing it wrong in File Manager? I single-click a folder to highlight it, then go to Select -> Rename. Then I rename it and press the Enter key, but it reverts back to the old folder name.

Solved: Missing whatis file from my /usr/shar/lib directory...

My whatis file is missing from my /usr/share/lib directory. I know I can recreate it by using catman -w command. My question is, why do all of my other servers have it and this one doesn't. Hi All, I connected via rlogin in testing environment (ksh ) and placed an executable with -rwxr-xr-x permission. eg: from my own unix box used : rlogin host -l user But the exe was renamed by somebody. since it's only renaming none of the access time , modification time etc is altered.... NAME

       suninstall - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       suninstall

DESCRIPTION

       install-solaris(1M) is now the preferred command for starting and restarting the Solaris Installation program. It should be used instead of
       suninstall. suninstall is symbolically linked to install-solaris.

       suninstall is a forms-based and graphical subsystem for installing the operating system.

       suninstall exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should only be invoked from there. Refer to the Solaris 10 Instal-
       lation Guide: Basic Installations for more details.

       suninstall allows installation of the operating system onto any standalone system. suninstall loads the software available on the installa-
