Every line that I am wanting to delete start with 'S' - all others do not. (A list of users)

Doesn't have to be VI - but I'm better with VI than sed/awk. (8 Replies)

Hi Folks
Quick one I can't seem to figure out sed wildcards..
I need to replace a string such as "From here.....to here".
I would think the command would look like:
sed 's/From here*to here/new text/g' or
sed 's/From here\*to here/new text/g'
But it's not working for me.

These 2 websites do a GREAT job of explaining different types of wildcards. I learned about the categories of characters which I never knew about at all.

--header
Draw page header for each page.
--markup
Interpret the text as pango markup.
--encoding=ENCODING
Assume the documentation encoding is ENCODING.
--lpi Set the lines per inch. This determines the line spacing.
--cpi Set the characters per inch. This is an alternative method of specifying the font size.
--stretch-chars
Indicates that characters should be stretched in the y-direction to fill up their vertical space. This is similar to the texttops
behaviour.
