Thankyou Habitual and Corona688 for your replies, I really appreciate it.
Regarding ssmtp, it is certainly an attractive alternative to the complex Postfix. However, my understanding is that while it simplifies sending mail, it cannot handle incoming mail.
I should have mentioned that a second goal I have (after getting my script to send me an email updating me on its status), is for me to be able to email it back with directions on how to proceed.
- Would ssmtp be able to handle those tasks, or will I have to deal with Postfix/exim4?
Thanks again for your help.
Mike
