i need to setup a cronjob that has will execute iostat command from morning to evening time.
for instance the timing has will be like this.
8:00 A.M -- 6:00P.M
how to define this entry in crontab

Anybody please help me to know ,what happens when a user having entry in both cron.allow and cron.deny files.Wheather the user will be able to access the crontab???

i am new in solaris. i am accessing server through putty. i could not add entry in crontab.
i have given "crontab -e" for add a new entry. It is not coming. what parameter i have to set for getting crontab -e

I have put a cron entry in oracle user for taking hot backup every wednesday@ 2.30 AM and have given the cron entry
30 02 * * 3 /u01/vijay/hotbackupcron 2>&1 >> /u01/vijay/hotbackup.log
also find below the script inside hotbackupcron, i have put in env variables as well

convdate - convert time/date strings and numbers
SYNOPSIS
convdate [ -c ] [ -n ] [ -s ] arg...
DESCRIPTION
Convdate translate the date/time strings specified as arguments on its command line, outputting the results one to a line.
OPTIONS -c If the ``-c'' flag is used, then each argument is taken to be a time_t and is output in ctime format.
-n If the ``-n'' flag is used, then each argument is taken as a date string to be parsed by parsedate(3) and is output as a time_t; see
time(2).
-s If the ``-s'' flag is used, then each argument is taken as a date string to be parsed by parsedate(3) and is output as a string for-
matted by ctime(3). This is the default.
EXAMPLES
% convdate 'feb 10 10am'
Sun Feb 10 10:00:00 1991
% convdate 12pm 5/4/90
Fri Dec 13 00:00:00 1991
