Hi All,
I would like my code to be able to print out the whole line if 1st field has a dot in the number. Sample input and expected output given below.
My AWK code is below but it can;t work, can any expert help me ?

Howdy.
I know this is most likely possible using sed or awk or grep, most likely a combination of them together, but how would one go about running a grep like command on a file where you only try to match your pattern to the second field in a line, space delimited?

I want to find the top N entries for a certain field based on the values of another field.
For example if N=3, we want the 3 best values for each entry:
Entry1 ||| 100
Entry1 ||| 95
Entry1 ||| 30
Entry1 ||| 80
Entry1 ||| 50

Entry2 ||| 20

How can I print the line if 1 is the field one before the last field?

I am trying with the below Perl command to print the first field when the second field matches the given pattern:

x0vncserver - VNC server which continuously polls an X display SYNOPSIS
x0vncserver [parameters] DESCRIPTION
x0vncserver is a VNC server which continuously polls any X display, allowing it to be controlled via VNC. How usable it will be depends a lot on the machine it's running on, and what you're expecting. It won't be as fast as Xvnc or a native X server with VNC support compiled in, but in many cases it is the best option since it is just an ordinary X application requiring no special installation. It has many of the same parameters as Xvnc. Running x0vncserver -h will give a list of parameters with descriptions. Note that you need to explicitly specify an appropriate password file using the PasswordFile parameter. SEE ALSO
