how to display date with filename??

thanks methyl,Scrutinizer and vishalaswani for the inputs and help.
I am getting the date suffixed to file name, but when i take the backup dump of database(eg:P4CMPlus_int postgres) i am unable to take with the below added quotes "" modification.
pg_dump -h ipaddress -p 5432 -U postgres -F c -v -f "/apps/cmplus/backup/`date +P4CMPlus_int_67.%m.%d.%Y.backup` P4CMPlus_int"
also tried with substituting below quotes
"/apps/cmplus/backup/daily_backup`date +P4CMPlus_int_67.%m.%d.%Y.backup`" "P4CMPlus_int"
output:
P4CMPlus_int_67.07.01.2010.backup P4CMPlus_int
Any help or clues to take the dump of this DB.

I would like to display the last 8 characters of the filenames for filenames of different lengths.
I can delete the last 8 characters with sed but dont know how to only show the last 8 characters.
The filenames are something like;

Working in a Bourne shell. What command would list the filename and size of a file if the size of the file had to be bigger than $a and smaller than $b?
Output (if $a is 10 bytes and $b is 50 bytes):test1.txt 15

backup_deldump - Deletes a dump level from the Backup Database SYNOPSIS
backup deldump -dump <dump level name> [-localauth] [-cell <cell name>] [-help] backup deld -d <dump level name> [-l] [-c <cell name>] [-h] DESCRIPTION
The backup deldump command deletes the indicated dump level and all of its child dump levels from the dump hierarchy in the Backup Database. Use the backup listdumps command to display the dump hierarchy. OPTIONS
-dump <dump level name> Specifies the complete pathname of the dump level to delete. -localauth Constructs a server ticket using a key from the local /etc/openafs/server/KeyFile file. The backup command interpreter presents it to the Backup Server, Volume Server and VL Server during mutual authentication. Do not combine this flag with the -cell argument. For more details, see backup(8). -cell <cell name> Names the cell in which to run the command. Do not combine this argument with the -localauth flag. For more details, see backup(8). -help Prints the online help for this command. All other valid options are ignored. EXAMPLES
