I compared your stty output with the one from some of my servers. The only difference I could find - besides erase - is, that you have local mode off (flag -clocal) and it's on here.
I had this problem before but it started working OK for a while. I can create a new profile but when I launch the console for that user it does not show the $ prompt. install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:
For SPARC machines:
