Calculate Network Number in /etc/netmasks file.
Hi All,
I have an issue with calculating the network number that needs to be put in /etc/netmasks file in my Sol-9 server.
The IP of my server in 10.164.114.135
Default Gateway - 10.164.114.130
Netmask - 255.255.255.240
If I set "10.164.114.130 255.255.255.240" in netmask file, after reboot the server is not setting the netmask properly. It is setting the netmask as “ff000000” instead of “fffffff0”.
If I set "10.164.114.0 255.255.255.240" in netmask file, after reboot the server is again not setting the netmask properly . It is setting the netmask as “ff000000” instead of “fffffff0”.
If I set "10.164.114.1 255.255.255.240" in netmask file, after reboot the server is again not setting the netmask properly . It is setting the netmask as “ff000000” instead of “fffffff0”.
I don't know what exactly the problem is. I am able to manually set the netmask and get the server in network properly. Please let me know what exactly the issue is. How is the network-number to be put in netmasks file calculated?
Thanks
HG
