I am trying to write a housekeeping bash script. Part of it involves searching all of my attached storage media for photographs and moving them into a single directory. The problem occurs when files have duplicate names, obviously a file called 001.jpg will get overwritten with another file... (6 Replies)
Hi,
' recgrep find . | xargs grep ' is used to scan the contents recursively. I have a different requirement. I need to scan just the names and check for a pattern and display with fullpath. Is that already available? Closest that I am trying is 'ls -R | grep pattern' Here I would get multiple... (1 Reply)
I have a file that looks like this
2 4 10 500 tim9
5 8 14 700 tim9
3 5 15 432 john1
1 4 12 999 ellen2
So basically what i want to do is fine duplicate names on column 5 and rename it with an extention (i.e. tim9_1 and tim9_2).
so the output file will look like this
2 4 10 500 tim9_1... (1 Reply)

Hi,
In a file, I have to mark duplicate records as 'D' and the latest record alone as 'C'.
In the below file, I have to identify if duplicate records are there or not based on Man_ID, Man_DT, Ship_ID and I have to mark the record with latest Ship_DT as "C" and other as "D" (I have to create... (7 Replies)

I'm searching for particular scripts that contain pattern "BASIS" so I used the following command:
find . -type f -print | xargs grep "BASIS"
or
find . -type f -exec grep "BASIS" {} \;
However, I found out that the find command in the UNIX box that I'm working on doesn't find files... (6 Replies)

Locale::Script - standard codes for script identification
SYNOPSIS
use Locale::Script;
$script = code2script('phnx'); # 'Phoenician'
$code = script2code('Phoenician'); # 'Phnx'
$code = script2code('Phoenician',
LOCALE_CODE_NUMERIC); # 115
@codes = all_script_codes();
@scripts = all_script_names();
DESCRIPTION
The "Locale::Script" module provides access to standards codes used for identifying scripts, such as those defined in ISO 15924.
Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default ISO 15924
four-letter codes will be used.
SUPPORTED CODE SETS
There are several different code sets you can use for identifying scripts. The ones currently supported are:
alpha
This is a set of four-letter (capitalized) codes from ISO 15924 such as 'Phnx' for Phoenician.
This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_SCRIPT_ALPHA".
The Zxxx, Zyyy, and Zzzz codes are not used.
This is the default code set.
numeric
This is a set of three-digit numeric codes from ISO 15924 such as 115 for Phoenician.
This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_SCRIPT_NUMERIC".
ROUTINES
code2script ( CODE [,CODESET] )
script2code ( NAME [,CODESET] )
script_code2code ( CODE ,CODESET ,CODESET2 )

all_script_names ( [CODESET] )
Locale::Script::rename_script ( CODE ,NEW_NAME [,CODESET] )
Locale::Script::add_script ( CODE ,NAME [,CODESET] )
Locale::Script::delete_script ( CODE [,CODESET] )
Locale::Script::add_script_alias ( NAME ,NEW_NAME )
Locale::Script::delete_script_alias ( NAME )
Locale::Script::rename_script_code ( CODE ,NEW_CODE [,CODESET] )
Locale::Script::add_script_code_alias ( CODE ,NEW_CODE [,CODESET] )
Locale::Script::delete_script_code_alias ( CODE [,CODESET] )
These routines are all documented in the Locale::Codes man page.
