Send mail issue.
Hi Gurus,
I have moved one of my servers(Sol-9) to client site and have an issue trying to send mails from their site through SMTP server in my site.
I get the below error when my server forwards mails to the SMTP server in another domain.
[!]root: mailx -v
hari.ganesh@fnis.com
Subject: test
test
EOT
[!]root: fnis.com: Name server timeout
hari.ganesh@fnis.com... Transient parse error -- message queued for future delivery
hari.ganesh@fnis.com... queued
I googled and found this url
Sendmail insists on looking up DNS info for destination domain names for sending mail without being in a domain. I did the changed mentioned in it,but still i am getting the below error:
[!]root: mailx -v
hari.ganesh@fnis.com
Subject: test
test
EOT
@ /var/spool/clientmqueue
[!]root:
hari.ganesh@fnis.com... Deferred: Name server: 172.21.214.14: host name lookup failure
Can somebody let me know how to set up sendmail for a Standalone machine(Sol 9) which uses SMTP services of a SMTP server in another domain and sends mail to addresses in SMTP server's domain?
Thanks
HG

DESCRIPTION
This binary is used to send all kinds of mail to mlmmj managed mailinglists, but can potentially be used standalone for sending mails.
The only option that is not self explanatory is the -l list control option:
'1' means 'send a single mail'
This is used together with -F and -T to send one mail to one recipient.
'2' means 'mail to moderators'
Used for sending mails to the moderators of a list.
'3' means 'resend failed list mail'
'4' means 'send to file with recipients'
'5' means 'bounceprobe'
'6' means 'single listmail to single recipient'
BUGS
This manual page is very scarce documentation of the mlmmj-send binary. The reason for this is that it's really not supposed to be used by
any human, but only supposed to be invoked from other mlmmj binaries. So in case more documentation is needed, please read the source.
