Thanks for the help. I got the solution. I only removed the space in the coding from appointmentDate[recordNumber] = $(echo ${appointmentDate[recordNumber]}|sed -e 's/\"//g') to appointmentDate[recordNumber]=$(echo ${appointmentDate[recordNumber]}|sed -e 's/\"//g') and the output was fine now
