Need help with shell script for moving/deleting/renaming files
Hi.
I need help with a little script that will be used to move some files to their parent directory, delete the directory, rename one file in the parent directory and delete another, then continue to the next.
Here's an example:
/var/media/Music/Genesis/1970 album - Trespass (2008 Box - 1970-1975) [GIR - FLAC - 2008 remaster]/split/ contains these files:
01.00 - (HTOA).flac
01 - Looking for Someone.flac
02 - White Mountain.flac
03 - Visions of Angels.flac
04 - Stagnation.flac
05 - Dusk.flac
06 - The Knife.flac
folder.jpg
Trespass-split.cue
The parent directory, /var/media/Music/Genesis/1970 album - Trespass (2008 Box - 1970-1975) [GIR - FLAC - 2008 remaster]/, contains these files:
split (subdirectory)
folder.jpg
Trespass.cue
Trespass.flac
I want the script to move *.flac from the "split" directory to it's parent. After the move, the "split" directory should be deleted, together with any files remaining in it.
Then, in this example, the script should rename "Trespass.cue" to "Trespass.cue.singlefile", and delete Trespass.flac.
After that, it should move on to the next directory that contains a subdirectory named "split". Any directory that doesn't contain a subdirectory named "split" should be ignored.
The uppermost directory for this operation is /var/media/Music/.
I have some knowledge of PHP, but I guess that isn't the most efficient language for this operation.
Could anyone please help me out here? Would save me several weeks of tedious manual moving of files =)
My system is running Debian 5.0.3.

set_color
set_color(1) fish set_color(1)
NAME
set_color - set_color - set the terminal color
set_color - set the terminal color
Synopsis
set_color [-v --version] [-h --help] [-b --background COLOR] [COLOR]
Description
Change the foreground and/or background color of the terminal. COLOR is one of black, red, green, brown, yellow, blue, magenta, purple,
cyan, white and normal.
o -b, --background Set the background color
o -c, --print-colors Prints a list of all valid color names
o -h, --help Display help message and exit
o -o, --bold Set bold or extra bright mode
o -u, --underline Set underlined mode
o -v, --version Display version and exit
Calling set_color normal will set the terminal color to whatever is the default color of the terminal.
Some terminals use the --bold escape sequence to switch to a brighter color set. On such terminals, set_color white will result in a grey
font color, while set_color --bold white will result in a white font color.
Not all terminal emulators support all these features. This is not a bug in set_color but a missing feature in the terminal emulator.
set_color uses the terminfo database to look up how to change terminal colors on whatever terminal is in use. Some systems have old and
incomplete terminfo databases, and may lack color information for terminals that support it. Download and install the latest version of
ncurses and recompile fish against it in order to fix this issue.
