My Nokia has a (mini) USB port and I love it.

Just yesterday I backed up my entire phone, including recent photos, music and movie clips, contacts and more to my hard drive.

But for me, the #1 reason I have a Nokia smart phone instead of an iPhone is I don't like the "Apple Lock In" business model. The #2 is that I like a full QUERTY keyboard on my phone.

The iPad is still interesting, but the more I read about it in the reviews, the more I feel like it is "more of the same" Apple "Lock Me In to Apple" and "Lock Me Out of the Rest of the World" which I really dislike.

For example, when Apple refused Google Voice on the iPhone, this was really wrong and smacks of the old days when Microsoft did the same as part of their core business mode.

Luckily, OSX has a Darwin/BSD core....... Smilie

NAME
phones - File containing the remote host phone number database SYNOPSIS
/etc/phones The /etc/phones file contains the system-wide private phone numbers for the tip(1) program. DESCRIPTION
This file is normally unreadable, and so may contain privileged information. The format of the file is a series of lines of the form: sys- temname phone-number where systemname is defined in the /etc/remote file and phone-number is the system phone number terminated only by a comma or by the end of the line. Only one phone number per line is permitted. However, if more than one line in the file contains the same system name, tip will attempt to dial each one in turn, until it establishes a connection. EXAMPLES
The following example shows the entry in /etc/phones for the system, zeus: zeus 9=555-9898 In this example, the = sign (or an asterisk) forces the autocall units to pause and wait for a second dial tone, when going through an exchange. The = is required by the DF02-AC (an asterisk would be required by the BIZCOMP 1030). RELATED INFORMATION
