I know how to use grep to eliminate a row when nothing there is a character that I dont want. But I encountered a problem where there is nothing there. Heres my example:
Code:
Nam1
Nam2 Year
Nam3 Month
So for Nam1 there is nothing in the second column so I want to delete it... so anything that has nothing in the second column should be removed.
Need to delete records from a text file. Very new to this and am using pico. The only way i can think of doing this is to generate an ID for every record then tell it to delete that particular ID. How would one delete every other two lines using VI? For example, I have the following 8 lines:

Line3
Line4
Line5
Line6
Line7
Line8
And wish to only delete lines 3-4 and 7-8. Is there a certain pattern which would make this easier?

zgrep - search possibly compressed files for a regular expression
SYNOPSIS
zgrep [ grep_options ] [ -e ] pattern filename...
DESCRIPTION
Zgrep invokes grep on compressed or gzipped files. These grep options will cause zgrep to terminate with an error code:
(-[drRzZ]|--di*|--exc*|--inc*|--rec*|--nu*). All other options specified are passed directly to grep. If no file is specified, then the
standard input is decompressed if necessary and fed to grep. Otherwise the given files are uncompressed if necessary and fed to grep.
If the GREP environment variable is set, zgrep uses it as the grep program to be invoked.
EXIT CODE
2 - An option that is not supported was specified.
