rsync question (regarding --delete)

Hi there

Does anybody know of a way that i can, instead of issuing a --delete when syncing one directory to another, I can instead somehow receive a list of what would be deleted, but not actually delete it ?

basically, people are occasionally putting files into one of synced folders, but rather than just deleting said file every night when the sync runs (which is what weve been doing up til now), we want to pull these exceptions out, mail them and get them to remove it manually (as they may wish to back it up)

personally id like them to learn the hard way, but the management , they say no Smilie

Is this possible with rsync ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

rsync with the --delete option.

Tell me this - set me straight! the --delete option says "delete files that don't exist on the sending side" Does this mean and only mean that it will delete files from the DESTINATION that DON'T EXIST on the sending side? (2 Replies)

NAME
glDeleteSync - delete a sync object C SPECIFICATION
void glDeleteSync(GLsync sync); PARAMETERS
sync The sync object to be deleted. DESCRIPTION
glDeleteSync deletes the sync object specified by sync. If the fence command corresponding to the specified sync object has completed, or if no glWaitSync() or glClientWaitSync() commands are blocking on sync, the object is deleted immediately. Otherwise, sync is flagged for deletion and will be deleted when it is no longer associated with any fence command and is no longer blocking any glWaitSync() or glClientWaitSync() command. In either case, after glDeleteSync returns, the name sync is invalid and can no longer be used to refer to the sync object. glDeleteSync will silently ignore a sync value of zero. NOTES
glSync is only supported if the GL version is 3.2 or greater, or if the ARB_sync extension is supported. ERRORS
GL_INVALID_VALUE is generated if sync is neither zero or the name of a sync object. SEE ALSO
