Free means it is not absolutely required by an active process. The kernel uses 'extra' memory to facilitate operations - like I/O. Those are the buffers in question. It is kind of like luxury uptake of an unrequired resource, if that makes more sense to you.

I've a question, if we are using a syscall that receives a string allocated dynamicaly to a determined size, or NUL and it will allocate the apropriate size. We should free the memory or the OS will do it for us?

Graphics::Primitive::Insets represents the amount of space that surrounds something. This object can be used to represent either padding

SYNOPSIS
use Graphics::Primitive::Insets;

METHODS
Constructor
new Creates a new Graphics::Primitive::Insets.
Instance Methods
as_array
Return these insets as an array in the form of top, right, bottom and left.
bottom
Set/Get the inset from the bottom.
equal_to
Determine if these Insets are equal to another.
left
Set/Get the inset from the left.
right
Set/Get the inset from the right.
top Set/Get the inset from the top.
zero
