Are you sure what you are doing? Your filesystem /vol 1 is mirrored under veritas volume manager so you need not do these steps. You can replace the faulty disk online by using the vxdiskadm

Description
Prior to Version 2.0, this device was referenced by tmscp(4).
The TMSCP driver provides a standard tape drive interface, as described in This is a driver for any controller that adheres to the Tape
