The OS I am using is SunOS 5.9 as seen by the command "uname -a". My problem regarding sort is that solaris sort does not have the -s option which I need exactly.
Suppose, the input is like this:

567 r
345 a

I want to sort only on first field and if the field... (5 Replies)

simple 'sort' produces a different output on SUN OS than on HP.
Lines with empty fields inside the key are sorted at the beginning on SUN; on HP they are at the end.

Is there any good way of replicating the effects of the Tru64 sort -A command on a Solaris machine?
We use sort -A to ignore the locale settings causing files to be sorted differently depending on the user, and since we are moving to Solaris I would like to find an appropriate way of... (1 Reply)

Perl::Critic::Policy::Modules::RequireNoMatchVarsWithUseUseriContributed Perl Perl::Critic::Policy::Modules::RequireNoMatchVarsWithUseEnglish(3pm)
NAME
Perl::Critic::Policy::Modules::RequireNoMatchVarsWithUseEnglish - "use English" must be passed a "-no_match_vars" argument.
AFFILIATION
This Policy is part of the core Perl::Critic distribution.
DESCRIPTION
Due to unfortunate history, if you use the English module but don't pass in a "-no_match_vars" argument, all regular expressions in the
entire program, not merely the module in question, suffer a significant performance penalty, even if you only import a subset of the
variables.
use English; # not ok
use English '-no_match_vars'; # ok
use English qw< $ERRNO -no_match_vars >; # ok
use English qw($OS_ERROR); # not ok
In the last example above, while the match variables aren't loaded into your namespace, they are still created in the "English" namespace
and you still pay the cost.
CONFIGURATION
This Policy is not configurable except for the standard options.
