shell script - ftp downloading serveral files without mget

if i put the address of the ftp_server to the HOST variable, the connection runs to our firewall....
if i put the address of the proxy to the HOST variable, i get: "ftp: connect: Operation timed out"
i don't know what $HOST> &2 in the ftp command really does???
but to understand i need to connect through the proxy
open proxyHost proxyPort
and with username: accountname@ftp_server_address
something like: user_ftp@10.30.20.50
and password is password...
i tried like this but it doesn't work

I have a automated FTP script that gets a file using mget. I am using mget because the date will change on the file frequently. corkscrew PROXY PROXYPORT TARGETHOST TARGETPORT [AUTH_FILE] DESCRIPTION
corkscrew is a simple tool to tunnel TCP connections through an HTTP proxy supporting the CONNECT method. It reads stdin and writes to std- out during the connection, just like netcat. It can be used for instance to connect to an SSH server running on a remote 443 port through a strict HTTPS proxy. PROXY The name of the host running the HTTP proxy. PROXYPORT The port on which to connect on the proxy. TARGET The host to reach through the proxy. TARGETPORT The port to connect to on the target host. AUTH_ FILE The auth file is made of one single line containing your username and password in the form username:password OPTIONS
