Question regarding cat command

fi
the variable d should contain the number of the process,
instead of that it contains 'cat process-id'

Hello,
So I sorted my file as I was supposed to:
sort -n -r -k 2 -k 1 file1 | uniq > file2
and when I wrote
> cat file2
in the command line, I got what I was expecting, but in the script itself
...
sort -n -r -k 2 -k 1 averages | uniq > temp
cat file2

I am trying to send text to a USB to serial adaptor and then to an external speech synthesizer. I tried using the cat and echo commands with no luck. I have gotten some audio output from my synthesizer using Kermit a terminal emulator, so I am pretty sure my synthesizer and my USB to serial... (1 Reply)

hello! why this works?
cd /home/user
cat * | ecasound -i stdin -o jack
and this doesn't?
cd /home/user/somedirectory
cat * | ecasound -i stdin -o jack
somedirectory are full with exe files which are the best source for this sort of noise thing (10 Replies)

xml-xread - Parse XML documents with entity and URI resolution SYNOPSIS
xml-xread [options] xmlfile DESCRIPTION
xml-xread is a simple command line tool for parsing and validating XML documents. It is not an actual XML parser, it just wraps around a JAXP XMLReader, adding support for catalog-based entity and URI resolution. OPTIONS
-c catalogfile Load a particular catalog file. May be specified multiple times. -v Perform a validating parse. This is the default. -w Perform a well-formed parse, not a validating parse. -N Perform a namespace-aware parse. This is the default. -n Perform a namespace-ignorant parse. -d debuglevel Set the debug level (an integer). Warnings are shown if the debug level is set to greater than 2. -E maxerrors Set the maximum number of errors to display. The default is 10. FILES
