Can you post example data, or give a more detailed breakdown of what you are trying to achieve ?
i.e. Are the fields space seperated / how many fields are you trying to extract etc.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if I can apply multiple cut on a single variable like below in a sh script:
tmp=`cut -c 1-4 $val`
tmp1=`cut -c 5-12 $val`
tmp2=`cut -c 13-18 $val`
If not, what is the other way to do this.
Thanks and Best Regards

strrchr - Find the last occurrence of a character in a string
SYNOPSIS
string strrchr (string $haystack, mixed $needle)
DESCRIPTION
This function returns the portion of $haystack which starts at the last occurrence of $needle and goes until the end of $haystack.
PARAMETERS
o $haystack
- The string to search in
