When i try to load (on different machines) from first cd i receive this errors:

Problem: Am trying to install Solaris 10 x86 on a desktop PC (PC details unspecified) from downloaded iso images (5 in all) on 5 CD disks. These were downloaded from the Sun website and unzipped. I dont know what the heck happen but one of our DBAs was working on a cluster for oracle. Rebooted the box and viola, the OS won't load. After the POST message, I get a blinking cursor on the upper left hand corner. Doesn't even say "GRUB" or anything, it just blinks.

I am trying to install Solaris x86 using the Jumpstart server. I run the add_install_client command with appropriate options, and reboot my x86 Target box. The installation starts fine and unattended. After the installation completes and the target goes for a re-boot, it does not boot from the HDD... (9 Replies)

Dears,
I'm trying to install solaris x86 on sun x4170 M2 I started connecting consol to the machine but when I do the reset /SYS command nothing changed
I can see that the /SYS is powered on but I can get the GRUB menu to start the installation of the solaris.

Is it possible to boot an existing Solaris 10 update 1 from boot dvd that I run on p3(1 ghz -512 mb ram).
I have got a dual boot sys - the other os is win xp that I need to reinstall but that removes the mbr so, is there any way to recover mbr after the installation of xp?

I installed x86 Solaris 10 update 10 after Windows XP, later I removed xp and installed Debian 9 stretch on the same partition but, Debian couldn't find any other os so it deleted Solaris 10 grub or did something like that I couldn't got.

NAME
iir -- Intel Integrated RAID controller and ICP Vortex driver
SYNOPSIS
To compile this driver into the kernel, place the following lines in your kernel configuration file:
device pci
device scbus
device iir
Alternatively, to load the driver as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5):
iir_load="YES"
DESCRIPTION
The iir driver claims to interface with the Intel integrated RAID controller cards, and all versions of the ICP Vortex controllers (including
FC).
HARDWARE
Controllers supported by the iir driver include:
o Intel RAID Controller SRCMR
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-l (SRCU31a)
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-1L (SRCU31La)
o Intel Server RAID Controller U3-2 (SRCU32)
o All past and future releases of Intel and ICP RAID Controllers.
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU21 (discontinued)
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU31 (older revision, not compatible)
o Intel RAID Controller SRCU31L (older revision, not compatible)
The SRCU31 and SRCU31L can be updated via a firmware update available from Intel.
