Is there a imbedded command (Solaris v8 ksh) that will send an administrative alert/alarm. Or is it just triggering a mail message via shell script? If no, is there a good open-source code someone knows about?

Does anyone use a good unix security alert provider (such as CERT/SANS) that caters specifically to Unix and would provide a similar method of alert reporting? Any suggestions (with links!! :) ) would be helpful and appreciated.

Hi,
I had installed Nagios on RHEL5.0 for Server Monitoring and configured the email alerts.
Presently i am able to get the alerts of the c drive space,ftp,http services,
But when the host goes down I dont get any alert saying that the Host is down or Host is Up.

I want to group alerts in Nagios and want to know if and how that can be done?
So something like 1 alert for multiple alerts and I am notified only once than multiple times.

I keep getting false emails thought the load is normal , looks like same email is generated again and again - called from cron tab
