Ok I a n00b, not gunna hide it so here goes -
Sun Solaris, V.10 i386 - during the setup, I can choose a screen resolution that looks great with 65k colors and all. However, when all is said and done 4 disks and a reboot later, I get hanious 640x480 @ 256 only.

I have a Java app that is deployed on several Unix systems. Until recently, starting it from the command line was no problem. A recent requirement is to deliver a desktop icon that will launch the app.

Hello,
I'm trying to find out which font xterm uses by default in CDE. I like it, it's nice and clean. My problem is that Java based applications like jEdit cannot find it.
Could anybody tell me what is the name of the font?
Example is attached.

I configured CDE on AIX server and lauched CDE from desktop using reflection 14.1.
I can lauch xclock with my own id
but when i Su to any other id and try xclock it is giving the follwoing error
X connection to localhost:10.0 broken ( explicit kill or server shutdown).

I canīt get a remote desktop login through CDE only with root user.
There are messages in the Xerror file:
/usr/bin/X11/xset: bad font path element (#0), possible causes are:
Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
Directory missing fonts.dir

Hello all I am writing a shell script for unix, and I am trying to get it to ask me if instances are stopped, and then if the version of java running is correct, if not I want it to ask me to switch to the other bit version. Java VisualVM is an intuitive graphical user interface that provides detailed information about Java technology-based applications (Java applications) while they are running on a given Java Virtual Machine (JVM(*)). The name Java VisualVM comes from the fact that Java Visu- alVM provides information about the JVM software visually. Java VisualVM combines several monitoring, troubleshooting, and profiling utilities into a single tool. For example, most of the function- ality offered by the standalone tools jmap, jinfo, jstat and jstack have been integrated into Java VisualVM. Other functionalities, such as some of those offered by the JConsole tool, can be added as optional plug-ins. OPTIONS
