i did typed the following code in vi and executed it.
#!/bin/sh
//notice the blank line here.
DATA=test
echo "$DATA"
There was no problem.
I then deleted the file using the rm command. I used ultraedit typed in the same file. , FTP it in and i got the following output

when i open a file to edit and type i to insert and the type # for #!/bin/bash

Hi Experts,
It may be a trivial thing, but I am stuck. Whenver I try to open a file using vi I get error Terminal Too wide.
I am using putty to connect to a Sun OS.
Please advice.

I am running a script , working very fine on cmd prompt. The problem is that when I open do crontab -e even after setting editor to vi by
set EDITOR=vi it does not open a vi editor , rather it do as below.....

Hi i have just installed ubuntu and it didnt have kate installed so i installed that but when i open it and click on the terminal it is blank and just a grey colour so i can't type anything in
When i had kubuntu it was fine i could type things in the terminal etc

Hi,
I am trying to open small size file only in vi editor on solaris or Linux machine
but it giving message "Terminal too wide" and then I have to come out.
As shown below:-

DESCRIPTION
This is a "CPANPLUS::Shell::Default" plugin that allows you to connect to a machine running an instance of "CPANPLUS::Daemon", allowing
remote usage of the "CPANPLUS Shell".
A sample session, updating all modules on a remote machine, might look like this:
CPAN Terminal> /connect --user=my_user --pass=secret localhost 1337
Connection accepted
Successfully connected to 'localhost' on port '11337'
Note that no output will appear until a command has completed
