Same problem.
For some reason,

sed 's/^[pP][rR][iI][nN][tT]/#print/' <filename>

is not commenting when the ‘print' statement starts with a tab/space (See the second encircled code.)

Can someone please give some pointers.
Check the attached screen shot.
