Perl Pattern Matching:Unix Vs. Window (Is it OS dependent??)
Hi All,
Below I am discussing the problem I am facing while using pattern matching in Unix & Window. Plz hv a look into it.

my $s="UPDATE A
SET s="klkkk'
;" ;
if ( $s =~ m/^[ ]*UPDATE[ ]+/i )
{
print $s;
}
else
{ print "no match";}
===================
Both should be working as same and you can see it works also.
But I found pattern matching sometimes behaves differently while copying or transfering the data from window to unix and vice-versa.
So main problem is may be due to transfering ...
But since we can't avoid that can we make some change in our script so that it will work same in any platform.
May be some some hidden character is creating the probelm.
Have you faced the samething???
Please reply and also suggest to avoid such problem.

I got doubt in Pattern matching, could you tell me how the following differs in action ??
if ( $line1==/$line2/ )
if ( $line1=~/$line2/ )
if ( $line1=~m/$line2/)
What is the significance of '~' in matching.

set_color - set_color - set the terminal color set_color - set the terminal color Synopsis set_color [-v --version] [-h --help] [-b --background COLOR] [COLOR] Description Change the foreground and/or background color of the terminal. COLOR is one of black, red, green, brown, yellow, blue, magenta, purple, cyan, white and normal. o -b, --background Set the background color o -c, --print-colors Prints a list of all valid color names o -h, --help Display help message and exit o -o, --bold Set bold or extra bright mode o -u, --underline Set underlined mode o -v, --version Display version and exit Calling set_color normal will set the terminal color to whatever is the default color of the terminal. Some terminals use the --bold escape sequence to switch to a brighter color set.
