Thanks for your reply but I am sorry but i did get a syntax error i am not knowing where i am going wrong
if i try the statement in one line it says
awk: illegal statement near line 1
awk: syntax error near line 1
awk: bailing out near line 1


if i try printing in two lines it says
awk: illegal statement near line 2
awk: syntax error near line 2
awk: bailing out near line 2
